save exisiting terrain as jpg or bmp?

is it possible to open a res file and save it as a bmp. gif or jpg?

Are you wanting to get an image of the terrain's layout, similar to what the clipboard shows?

It would be easier to take a print screen of the clipboard, if you only have the .res file.  If you can find or have the project source files that built the .res file you can use them with the TE to make a bmp file out of the terrain.   But without the project source files I don't believe there is any program available that will convert the data you need out of the res file to make a bmp.
