I think everything balances out pretty well. I dont think the zeke upsets the balance. the hurri, spit, f4f are good match. the p40e is not that bad just faster. I map made for this would pretty much make this work IMO.

Kind of a limited choice, IMHO; 110c, 202, 109E not a good match for hurri1s and F4Fs in the usual fights. Also, maybe a note on the MOTD listing which country is Axis and which is Allied.

I think if you added the 109f, it'd help offset the horde of 40e's in the early war area

Had a blast in there last night for the first time in months.

Fields seemed just a smidge close together. Especially when your seeing enemy ground ack tracers as your taking off.

Fights were fast and furious for sure. At one point it was turning into a gangbang. Jumusta & I vs 5 allies.

Thanks to Eskimo for switching over and helping to even it back up again.

I think it is conclusive that our little test was a success. The concept is sound, a place where a guy can get some quick action without having his A2A fun ruined by building battlers and strategerizers. Action was fast and furious, at first there were a number of merges without firing, but that only last a few hours before the HOs started flying. Average time from takeoff to engagement was probably 60 seconds and I only saw a couple of guys up to 3K. The ganging stuff happened but turnover was so fast and furious that you could go from the gangbanger to the gangbangee in about 30 seconds...no lie! It looked like everyone was having a blast to me, even when folks complained it was with an "LOL" thrown in.

There is no doubt some tweaking to be made. In addition to the good advice already posted I'd like to suggest another two-base area where both sides get the same planeset. I did not mind seeing all those A6M2s, they are like Ballpark Franks, they pop when you cook them (easily too).

I was amazed to see there were over 30 people in there on a Monday night, and that was with no advertising or MOTD. If we can get a customized map for FT this could be a long term affair. Maybe alternate on week on one week off with the regular CT (after an arena "rebadge" of course).

Agreed. It was a blast last night. Seems that a few lamers trailed in towards the later hours, but for the most part it was merges without HOs, no picking nor running. Had some really good fights.

I never thought the Rangoon map would work that well for a FT idea, but that wasnt bad. Although I would tend to agree that the Emil is a little outclassed by its competitors (especially the P40), I think part of that is the fact that I hardly ever fly it so I spent more time in the trees than I did in the air. I doubt many others get a chance to fly it often either. That, coupled with a real lack of alternatives, is probably why folks were resorting to the zeke so much. I tried a little bit of everything, and I think the concept is very sound. As you say, just needs "a bit of tweaking."

It was up over 30 for awhile. Those kinds of numbers, on a Monday night, with not much advertising beforehand......I'd call that a success. Definitely a nice change of pace. Every time I tried something new and hit the trees, I was laughing my butt off instead of cussing. No matter what it did for anyone else, I can say "I needed that."

Spent some time there yesterday, it was a blast!!!! Needs some more tweaking, but I hope it stays. Gonna bring some of the squad over tonight and have fun killlin each other.

On the planeset, they are supposed to be same for both sides.

I would add that a forth "area" would be cool with a plane vs plane matchup, such as we have done on the sunday thing would be cool. Have to be 1 plane only at each field and change every week.

ie: p-40b vs c.202
d-11 vs la-5
109e vs spit9

etc....

Sure wish a mapmaker cough fester cough could help us out...

Cut-n-paste from a previuous thread:

We need a simple map as initially described by DipStick. Ideally it would look somewhat like this:

Note the bases are all on 3 K pedestals (even the GV bases).
If strat targets are required, they could be shoved in the lower left hand corner; the 8K walls and big downwind should keep them safe.
Note the addition of the Buff Trolling area and the GV Spawn Camper’s Delight area. (Why not since all 5 sectors are completely isolated from each other?)
The 8K walls should provide a good visual reference for the ceiling…
Base distance is critical; minimum time to get back into the fight is desired. I recommend 6, 8 and 10 miles for the different eras.

So, if you are a mapmaker, could ya whip one of these out for us?
