Well, I finally got my 1964 Impala convertible from offsite storage this weekend and dragged it down to my house.  It hasn't been driven since 1980 and I've owned it since 1989, but never had a good place to work on it.

Now that I have my own place, and a dedicated shop, I finally can start the restoration on this thing.  Been waiting 15+ years.

So anyways, I'm up north, winching it onto the trailer when the brother in law hollers...

"Hey, you have a couple of passengers in here"

No biggie I think, probably just a couple of the 2 dozen mice that were living in the engine compartment and in the seats.  I walk over from the front of the trailer and peer in ....

AIEEEEEEEE!!!!  There, on the floor under the steering wheel are two great big racoons.  Unfortuately, they were dead and JUST starting to get.....

Juicy.

Apparently they broke thru the fiberglass "skylight" in the roof of the shed and got trapped in the shed and starved to death.  So I removed the carcasses, I'll leave out the good tastey details as it is lunch time for some :D and dragged the car to her new home.

I ripped out the carpet, insulation the the padding on the floor, burned it, and proceeded to spray the entire inside of the car with a 75/25 mix of bleach and water.  I did it twice just to make sure :)

You never know what you migh find in these old cars.  I'm hoping I'll find a bag of money next!! :D
