Minor annoyance...
« on: May 17, 2005, 09:14:21 PM »
I remember a long time ago in AW, when someone augered in,  the nearest enemy plane got a kill for it, they fixed it.
I see that's happeneing here, I've played the part of a lawn dart a few times and someone nearby gets a kill and I know they haven't even fired a shot let alone hit me :(
This needs to fixed, it ain't right!  :(

Proxy kills for lawndarts goes to closest enemy if no shots were fired.

If shots were fired (and hit), then it goes to he who does the most damage before the plane went SPLAT.

I know this is true, because I shot the tail off a Niki, and it took a good 45 seconds for it to finally hit the ground. There was a friendly under me when it hit, and I still got a kill for it.

Flying someone into the ground when you're out of ammo is one of the most rewarding feelings in this game - you can and should be able to kill 'em without firing a shot :)

When you battle it out and one stalls and crashes its your achievement, so i think the message is in order. Getting the kill for the better pilot, eaven if hes better at keeping his bird in the air.

When you are in a one on one and the other one prefers to crash instead of fighting you should get it too, because if not the people could just crash when the tide turns against them, if there is no kill awarded it should also be no death.... which would be an easy way to rtb without dieing or hurting score.

When one crashes and the otherone is close, but has nothing to do with it you are right and it shouldnt be awarded. But how would you determine that and decide weather he crashed or it was a "maneuver kill"?

I beleave removing the maneuver kill would be disappointing, at least for me. I often pull close to the ground split S where the enemy follows and lawndarts.

In WB it was designated a maneuver kill.  Here it doesnt have a designation, but its commonly called a proxie kill.  IIRC the proxie range is inside of 1800yds.

No, its not perfect.  Sometimes you get credit just for being in the right place at the right times.  Sometimes you cause a maneuver kill and they crash out of range.  (Caused 3 262s to crash last tour and didnt get any of them because they tend to splat to far away)

Believe me though, there are tactics to coax the enemy to crash.  I once even coaxed the big man himself to auger his jug when he wouldnt let my poor bingo spit alone.

Adapt your tactics accordingly ;)
