Controlling multiple vehicles or planes
« on: May 23, 2005, 04:30:32 PM »
Actually, traveling to the fight or to the bombing target, RTB or patrolling over a large area may be boring and time consuming.

What about being able to have control over several vehicles or planes, with a limit, of course?

Lets say we have a limit of 3 vehicles or planes.
I takeoff with a Ta152 for a long range CAP, after take off I switch it to autospeed and let it climbing. Now I take off with a B26 group and let the group climbing also. Then I spawn at a vulched field with a M16 and stay defending the base some minutes. Time to switch to the Ta152 just to put it on level flight towards the CAP area, after this I swith to the M16 and continue defending the base. Some minutes later I see my B26 group marked dot near the enemy CV, I swith to the B26, perform the attack and put them heading to base. I land the M16 and then start the Ta152 CAP. And so on...

I could see this being abused...as I'd lift off in Lancasters...then up two more flights not far behind it.  So Flight 1 nails the Vehicle Hangar, Flight 2 and 3 wipe out fighter hangars, etc etc...

Its a nifty idea, prime for abuse tho.

Excelent example, 6 lancs for a player, double the targets for the rest of us :)

And that player can gun only from a single group of lancs.

Heh....I agree, Mando....but most of the players wont rise and intercept a bomber group at altitude.  They'll complain on ch 200 or post on the BBS how porked bombers are :)

Second excelent example. With a system like this, a player would be able to take off with an interceptor, set it on autoclimb heading to the general direction of the enemy buffs, keep furballing for several minutes with a second fighter, and then jump into the interceptor and proceed with the buff hunting once the plane has enough altitude, while the furballing plane has been set in course to a friendly base (or destroyed).

You can easily do this TODAY. Why, just pay a second account, and run your second computer with it! It's *that* easy!

All-in-all.. a kinda stupid idea. No, no offense to you, but think about it. Take away take off, take away climb out, take away everything that makes this a flight sim, and what do you get? Fighter Ace. Instant-action-spawning. It's Quake! I like the creative idea, but it's nevva gonna happen for AH, methinks.
