I've been reading a book about the WWII aces. In the book, it made mention of P-47s taking off from escort carriers in the Pacific. Will we see this in the near future?

That was the  P-47"N"s of the 413th FG at Ie Shima in 1945.

Although I remember seeing a picture of P-47 Razor backs on a CV. Cant remember where...

Hey I didn't know that   But I don't want it on a CV, the salty air may rust my shiny paintjob.

Once apon a time, a P47 came for landing on a CV, only landing platform thank to a fuel leack. Pilot sweating, very fine stick adjustments...no hook, it's a P47... too high, too much on the right... deck coming... 150ft, 100ft... looks good... cheerleader crossing the deck... Wow she's cute.. wohoo... eck!!! the deck!!! Scccccccrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsss sssssssshhhhhhhttttttttt.... full stop, prop bend, landing gears flew into the water, the P47 is slightly leaning on his right side, the wing is bent near the wing root.

An engineer, walking by (the boyfriend of the cheerleader), saw the bent wing and said :"that's it"!!!

So they bent the other wing, removed the 8 .50s, and replaced them by the Cv's 5" flack guns. They painted it blue as the color of the P47 pilot who was indeed completly drunk and VOILA!!!!

The F4-C was born.
Dat jugs bro.
