CH Control Manager - Unable to use mapped mode?
« on: May 25, 2005, 11:50:39 PM »
Reposting this here from CH Hangar to see if any of you guys can help:

I just received my Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals (all USB). I have no problem understanding how the Control Manager functions or what the different modes mean, but it seems that I am always unable to select mapped mode. The button is always greyed out. I'm using Windows XP w/ SP1.

I did read Michael's "How to" thread but it doesn't touch on this problem, nor does the Control Manager help file. I searched the forum and was able to find one other person posting with this problem but the thread didn't help me.

Upon receiving the controllers (all great products, btw), I plugged them all in and installed the included Control Manager software (v3.6). After the software was finished installing, windows immediately began detecting the controllers and running the hardware installation wizards. I proceeded through these and all the devices installed without trouble. However, upon opening Control Manager, I couldn't use mapped mode to create a single virtual device. Direct mode worked fine, but mapped mode simply could not be clicked.

After playing around for a while I unplugged all the devices and used CHDelete to remove the drivers. I then tried reinstalling Control Manager, this time rebooting immediately after the install. Upon booting back into windows, the hardware installation wizards again began popping up. Before proceeding with them I opened Control Manager and clicked on Test/Calibrate to see if it would install the devices themselves. It would not respond further until I had completed the Windows wizards, after which I could calibrate all devices normally. However, mapped mode is still not working. Even if I try to use the wizard and tell it to create a unified device, it simply uses Direct Mode. Now I'm stuck. I want to create a virtual device to be able to use all the controllers simultaneously in Aces High.

Can anyone help?

Doh!  Nevermind... I just had to download the map to the sticks first... (slightly unintuitive).  After that, mapped mode appeared.  Oops!
