various resolutions and their effect on field-of-view
« on: May 26, 2005, 08:05:12 AM »
To illustrate via the extreme, if player one is running 640X480 and player two is running 1600X1200, will they have the same field of view? I am wondering about this in the sense of a camera lens, is the low-res pilot flying with a 50mm lens and the high-res pilot enjoying the 28mm version of the view?

They have the same field of view. AH Sets it's field of view bast on width, No matter what res you run, the width of the screen will be 90 deg's. The up down portion will change if the aspect ratio of the res changes. but 640x400 1024x768 1280x960 and 1600x1200 all have the same aspect ration so the fov remains constant in both directions.

Thanks Dale! That's what I was hoping to be the case.
