The EU.. what's in it for America?
« on: May 27, 2005, 11:30:25 AM »
Just curious.. wondering what postive/negative effect a united european economy would have for us on this side of the pond.

..and; does the EU entail a military alliance (ala NATO) as well? Non-agression pacts? Mutual defense accord included? Or is it just a economic 'standardization'?

I read George Wills article yesterday where he said that after (if) Turkey is admitted into the EU, the average euro worker will produce 42% compared to what  the average american produces.

So I guess the answer to your question is "nothing".

Oversimplification:

If u wanted to invest, you had the choice between USA or Japan, the Dollard, or the Yen. The yen went down the drain so the dollard gained the monopole. Great for USA, not good for the rest of the world.

EURO was created to balance the Dollard (one of the reason), and it kind of works as the EURO keeps up with the Dollard. Now you can invest in USA, or in Europe.
Dat jugs bro.
