Hi Arena,
whenever I find the time to log on (mostly afternoon/evening European time, I fly Knights exclusively) I will post some small missions. They are distinctly different from the usual "Newbie mission", where they just take 40 spits, 40 la7s and 40 typhoons (+40 B17s for good measure) and then complain when nobody joins, and/or the mission wont fill up. Boring!!
My missions will have 4 - 8 slots available. They usually wont aim to capture a field, but will have a smaller, more achievable goal which still helps the main war effort. Although I have really no information about this, I think these kind of missions can be expected from the upcoming "Tour of Duty"...
For example, they might comprise of a fighter sweep over a capped airfield (or the one the cappers/porkers come from), they might target a town with Jabos or Bombers, or some strategic target (like troop or radar factory), or put up a sustained CAP over a high priority target like the HQ or a CV group in some planes specialized in downing the dreaded "divebombing Lancs".
These missions are not ment to put up the usual horde to slam an enemy airbase into submission. They tend to fill up quick, but I wont make them huge or switch planesets around to accomodate everyones favourite ride. They will also launch within 10 to 15 minutes of posting, so joiners will have just enough time to grab a beer, but not too much time to get bored. They are a way for some people to get together to fly a somewhat "realistic" yet not too complicated mission. I look forward to flying with you, and am always open to friendly suggestions.
And please, dont scream at me on the open channel about "what the xxxx are you doing, your mission should be going to field XYZ, its being overrun!". My missions are small, so they wont divert too many players from the available numbers - and I have played this game for a while, I know that sometimes a few guys in the right spot are more important than 50 guys furballing it out
Looking forward to winging with you,
