Ill take NATO over the UN anyday.   Personally i think the UN is too much BS.  UN didn't help us in the war with Iraq, but NATO did.  I dn't believe NATO is outdated but the UN on the other hand is.

Viva la American!

Dear Mr. NATO guy,
I would like you to kick out the French.  They have stolen all of the white cloth in Europe and America.  I have information that they are making them into flags.  I believe they are getting ready to surrender before the next war even starts.

Thanks,
A concerned American!

Hmmm.... white cloth.. broomsticks..

Nawwww.. couldn't be.

Not AGAIN!

It's inevitable that EU Army will increase its influence when its growing and that also means NATO/ US will lose (some of) its powers.

They are serious, and they are in the beginning of a big modernisation programme.

Because they pay me.... tax free!!

Seriously, if NATO didn't exist then it would be replaced by something else that would start out small and grow large again, a la NATO.

I'd sooner have NATO than the UN.  NATO has proved to be a useful ally in all areas, not always associated with the North Atlantic I might add.  With the introduction of former Warsaw Pact countries to NATO it has also shared the workload of peace keeping duties.  Better to have allies than enemies.

Btw. why are you commenting? Have you been in war?

I didn't say that at all, GS. I don't think military service means beans as far as opinions or character goes- you are a case in point, rather you've served or not.

And I'm commenting because I fugging FEEL like commenting... If you don't like my comments then e-mail Skuzzy and complain, OK?

And the answer to your question is yes, but only once and only for a year, and probably while you were still in diapers, if you were even born yet.
