The dots, what is the english word for what they represent plugs?

Anyways... do all planes have em?

Ive been looking on other ki84 skins and on ki84 pictures and just seen the lines.

Sounds to me like you're talking about "fasteners", either rivets, screws, etc.

i am guessing the wood planes dont have many, rivets are hot metal, pounded into place, and then they hold 2 metal parts together.

on many painted planes, they are painted right over, and with layers of paint, they become almost invisible at distances over a few feet

i have pictures of 190's and 109's where the camera is within 5 feet, and you can't see a single rivet in areas you know they are there
I don't know what to put here yet.

Yeah thats the problem with alot of detail that goes into the skins actually.

I mean every skinner puts in so damn much detail into the skins and at best what we see in game is the wings at that detail level.

Thats why Ive been focusing more on overall look from a bit of distance then close up extream detailing. I might be cursing in the church by saying this, but I do think the overall look of the plane is more important.

Rivets used in aircraft are generally aluminum alloys and are put in cold. They are put using a pneumatic hammer and a "bucking bar". I spent a couple of years "bucking rivets" putting aircraft and floats together - lotsa fun :/. I can't speak for anywhere else, but here in Canada anyone getting close to an airplane with a red-hot rivet is looking to get his hands wacked with a hammer .

Any aircraft of the WW2 era used rivets, screws or Dseuce (spelling?) fasteners to hold pieces of skin to the airframe. Sometimes (like on the wing skin of the pony) the rivets were flushed in for aerodynamic smoothness so you wouldn't necessarily see them under a paint job (same thing with screws).

it's the old -
Put in what people expect to see (eg rivets), not what can actually be seen.
