Need Help
« Reply #15 on: June 03, 2005, 08:52:16 AM »
Ah..got a reply.

"Hello again,

I will take care of the shipping through the company Lufthansa Air
Cargo and
it will take 5-6 days.I have a friend at Lufthansa Air Cargo who will
manage
me a lower price shipping,so I will take care of that. When I will ship
it,I
will declare it as a gift so that you will pay no taxes when you will
receive it and for this it will be delivered directly to your address.

Since this is an over seas purchase and in order for both parts to be
safe
we will use a third party, Square Trade, to make this deal. I will
support
the Square Trade fees. From the moment that you will decide that you
want to
move ahead with the transactoin I will open a transaction record at
square
trade and the will get in touch with you. They will work as a third
party
and they will make excchange between us. If you don't want to keep the
car,
just inform Square Trade and they will send you the money back as soon
as
you send the car back to me (this is not the case, as the car is as
described, in perfect condition). In case you don't receive the car
(this is
not the case to) Square Trade will refund you the money, 100%. Square
Trade
won't give me the money until they have your word that you have
received the
car and you want to keep it. You will have 5 days to test the car.

I will manage the shipping of the car at no cost for you. You will pay
only
the price of the car, 6,000.00 + the money transfer fess to square
trade.

In order to move ahead with this transaction I will be needing your
full
name and the shipping address where you want the car shipped so I can
open a
new transaction record at square trade and get them in touch with you.
They will provide you all the details on how to proceed with payment.

Thank you for your time
Hope to hear from you soon.
David"

Notice how "David" baits his hook with larceny...we'll screw Lustanzia on the shipping and we'll screw the Government on the taxes... and I get a 40 grand Navigator for six grand.

Now the fun will start.
:D

"You should offer to come see it on your way back from Nigeria, where you are taking care of some banking."

LOL I thought of that.

"My name is Dan R. Deman and my shipping address is 1600 Gaylord Drive, San Francisco, California, 95403.

I wish I could see more pics of the Navigator, especially the interior. My wife says the interior is probably trashed out. And was the pic on Yahoo the actual car?

Thank you,

Dan"

I'll bet my wife hates the interior color- and I'll bet my friend David knows an  apholstery shop in Greece that can fix it. :aok

and my reply is..

Recieved this reply in regards to the bmw, looks familiar doesnt it?

Hello there,

First of all I want to thank you for contact me and your interest in my
car.My wife was recently promoted so we had to move in Greece. We
brought
the car with us, wanting to register it here, but I couldn't because in
order to get it registered here it will need serious engine
modifications to
comply with the EU emission standards. The car is bought from US and is
made
for US market.

The price I want to obtain for it is 6,000 usd.

The car is like new, completely working, low miles, with 3 years
EXTENDED,
INTERNATIONAL and TRANSFERABLE warranty, which will be honored at any
dealer
in your country. It is US model with US specs and passed the US test
emissions. All the manuals and the original documentation are written
in
eight languages.

You will receive your car in 4-5 working days by Lufthansa at your home
address. The car is being shipped from Greece and you won't have to pay
for
customs or any additional taxes when it will arrive in your country.

I would like to use a third party for this deal because it is a large
purchase and I want a smooth transaction.

Regards::

Well the email is the same as the others ..so i guess its time to make an offer... any one want to start a bidding war?;)

Pogo, I have a feeling he's got as many virtual BMWs as he can get real buyers for...and if you offer him 3500.00 he'll jump all over it.

David sent me pics of the Navigator, along with the following info from Square Trade, or whatever they're calling it-

 Verified Seal Member Profile

    The criteria for SquareTrade Membership.

The SquareTrade Seal, along with other factors, can substantially lower the risks of buying online. The Seal is  a guarantee of a successful transaction or of a Seller's performance.

 Important notice

You can apply to become a SquareTrade Seal Member. It is the world`s largest community of trusted sellers - with 1.5 million listings every day proudly displaying the Seal.

Buyers will feel comfortable buying from you knowing that you are a verified seller and that you will resolve disputes.

Step 1:
The buyer and seller agree to the terms and details of the transaction.   Step 2:
The buyer sends payment to SquareTrade. Payment is verified and secured by Square Trade.   Step 3:
The seller ships the merchandise to the buyer, knowing that the buyer's payment is secured.   Step 4:
The buyer accepts the merchandise after having the opportunity to inspect it.   Step 5:
SquareTrade pays the seller after all conditions of the transaction are met.

Buyers and Sellers Know What to Expect: The buyer and seller view and agree to terms before the transaction begins.
Payments are Guaranteed: Instead of sending payment directly to the seller, the buyer sends payment to SquareTrade where it is held and secured until the merchandise is delivered..
Shipments are Safe: The seller may feel safe when shipping the merchandise to the buyer, knowing that the buyer's payment has been verified and is safely held by SquareTrade.
Inspect Before You Pay: If the buyer and seller agree to an inspection period, the buyer may examine the merchandise before payment is released to the seller (and if the buyer rejects the merchandise, the seller may inspect the merchandise upon return before payment is refunded to the buyer).

What happens if the seller does not respond after the payment is completed?

SquareTrade repeatedly tries to encourage the other party to respond to a case, but we cannot guarantee participation, since the process is completely voluntary. If the respondent does not reply within one week from when the case was initially filed, it is unlikely that you will receive a response and we will close the case. If we hear from the other party after the case closes, we will reopen the case and notify you.

Currently, the seller has a $20,000.00 deposit in a SquareTrade managed purchase protection account. Transactions with this seller are covered by purchase protection against fraud and description errors.

Should you need a refund for this transaction?

The insured amount of the transaction will be taken from the seller's purchase protection account and refunded to you. The refund is sent to your bank account, or by check or money order. The way you are refunded is at your discretion. You have 15 days from the above verification date to request the refund. Refund requests are processed within 3 days.

SquareTrade Buyer Protection Policy

This policy was last modified on June 4, 2004.

You should feel confident purchasing from a SquareTrade Seal Member. Seal Member David Menson has been verified by SquareTrade and is committed to customer satisfaction and resolving disputes via mediation. Seal Member David Menson uses Western Union Service for the payment due to the fact that he is not able to use PayPal, Escrow, Credit Card or Cashiers Check  as a method of payment.

  David Menson 's Selling Standards

Disclose pricing, shipping and return policies in a clear and accurate manner

Disclose contact information, if requested to do so by a buyer

Respond to disputes filed and participate in mediation, if buyer requests

   Commits to meeting SquareTrade Standards.

I already opened the transaction with Square Trade.I arranged for you
to

Trade. After they will confirm the payment,i will start the shipping
procedure.

The car it's a beauty. The interior is in perfect condition.I will send
you
some pictures right now.
Please let me know when Square Trade will contact you and how soon can
you
make the payment. If you will make it Monday,I will start the shipping
the
next day.

Nice doing business with you!

David

Hello Dave, I got the pics and the Navigator is a beauty! The only thing is, it doesn't have spinner hubcaps, and because I wear short shorts the back of my thighs will stick to the leather seats.

Do you have access to spinner hubcaps and cloth seatcovers, preferably in a leopard print? Sorry to be so nitpicky, but I was hoping the Navigator would have been more pimped instead of so... generic.

Thank you,
Dan

Ask for his home address so you can send a gift in appreciation for his efforts to save you money, and ask for his home phone number so you can call and personally thank him after you get it.  You can explain that if you can trust him enough to send that kind of money, he can trust you enough to provide that info.

I would also ask for a picture of the car emailed to you in front of a cool greek historical sight that you can hang up near your computer.

Then ask if you can do his wife when you come to Greece next summer on vacation.

Great ideas....:aok

I've bought plenty of cars, and I know the more time a car salesperson spends on a sale the more desperate they become to make the sale. Also I've just now started car shopping, and for all I know the market is flooded with used SUVs due to rising gas prices.
