FSO: Bangkok or Bust - Frame 2 Results
« on: June 04, 2005, 01:07:51 AM »
First off let me say that I made a mistake in estimating the value of the vehicle bases. I assumed that the 3 small VH hangars while visually seperate were not for bomb damage. So I only thought they would take the ordinance to put down one hangar. I also did this on several other objects.

After checking the objects for a vehicle base I have determined its is worth 146 points instead of the 60 points I assigned to it (land bases value are calculated on lbs of bombs needed to destroy objects. Fleet object is also based on this but then modified - increased to reflect the increased difficulty hitting a moving target and extra guns, convoys are not linked to lbs of ordinance to destroy).

Alright so here are the results for frame 2:

    Allies Shot Down
    11 - Ki67s = 220
    19 - Ki61s = 190
    19 - Ki84s = 190
    16 - N1K2s = 160

    65 - Total = 760

    Allied Ground Targets & Defense
    Field A4 Defended   =   40
    Field V19 Defended =   62
    Field A38 Defended =   93
    Field A8 attacked     =    85
    Field V22 attacked  =   40
    Field V38 attacked  = 127
    C13 Attacked                  =  56

    Total = 503

    Total Ground & Air Points = 1319

    JAAF Shot Down
    40 - B26Bs       = 800
    08 - P38Js        =  80
    05 - P47D25s   =  50
    06 - P51Bs        =  60
    23 - Spitfire Ixs = 230

    96 - Total = 1220

    JAAF Ground Targets & Defense
    Field A4 attacked     = 152
    Field V19 attacked   =  84
    Field A38 attacked   =  53
    Field A8 defended    =  85
    Field V22 defended  = 106
    Field V38 defended  =  19
    C13 defended          = 100
     7 Trucks at A4 = 21

    Total = 642
    [/list]

    JAAF Total = 1962
    Allies Total = 1319

JAAF wins the frame by 643 points. A major victory goes to the JAAF.

You know I spent a lot of time writing about walk ons and what a true walk on is. I just went through some screen shots and researched 4 out of 5 possible violations which did not turn out to be violations.

And then I come across a 5th where the person says "<--guest looking for some squad to hook up with tonight."

Check the logs and he was taking in even though BlkKnit points out he can't be taken as a walk on and then in response to the person that invites him asks don't you read the BBS and then again points out you can't do this.

I said in a thread that right now I don't have a problem with a gunner. But it looks like the person flew a B26.

I am going away for the weekend so will take care of this when I get back late tomorrow night.

But right now looks like the allies have a -400 penalty coming.

    Really disappointed over this.

if your talking about the Damned, the 2 I let in, I talked to before the frame in MA. I was not aware that invites were no longer accepted.
It could be, though, that the 327th might have had a good time and will join SO.

All apologies if I really did a no-no.

    I think he is Stegahorse.

I posted on the 327th BB a week or so ago asking if they had considered the Friday Squad Operations.  Was pleased to see they were checking it out. KOOL even posted he wanted to walk on, but was not sure how to go about it. Problem was I did not see his post before the frame or I would have warned him how to go about it.

Not sure how GD will deal with this. You might check out this thread if you have not yet.

Players who are guests of Squad Ops Squads should come in directly and contact that squad, not announce they are looking for "any" squad to fly with.  In the future if you guys talk to other players make sure you tell them to contact you directly in the SEA.

Yeah problem with that was these guys just told them to look us up in the SEA at 11. Not taking a shot at my beloved squaddies or anything mind you ;) as I do love them dearly , but even tho I do send the orders out to them on the squad mailing list you know I'll have to type out about a bezillions times pre-frame where we are, what we're flying, etc. So they might not have been able to tell our good friends from the 327th *exactly where* to meet us.

FWIW I did warn our guys about the big blowup about walkons but they told me they told them to meet us for the event. And seeing as "guests" are still allowed (I think) I let em on in. I seem to remember flying as a guest in one of these events my first time. Been here ever since. That may or may not have been the desired effect tho!:D

I do agree that we have to come up with some sort of uniform policy about this otherwise we risk skewing the balance of design in these events. I understand that completely.

I have been shown the BBS post where KOOL was invited and have heard from Daddog and others in this case.

So basically it comes down to poor wording and confusion on KOOL's part. He was invited and he knew to come to the right side but was a little unclear on how to hook up with the DAMNED. And chose his words poorly not knowing any better.

I am sastified that this was not a case of true walk on or of one squad taking a person in face the other squads telling that squad you can't do that.

So no point penalty to the Allies.

No problemo! You and the CM crew are doing a good job!

I wonder if there should be a number of "slots" reserved for a squad group of, say 4 or more, to visit. Some of the squads that have expressed an interest in SO but are unwilling to "buy before they try".  The sign up and commit to part of SO puts many off as they "might not like it".

A way to control could be to require post to SO asking for a temporary position in 1 frame or 1 set of frames. A squad then could  offer to take them in for that period, and the interested group could play with out the commitment for a bit. Or, a squad that has low turn out could recieve re-inforcements.

The key would be the prior request to Squad Operations Forum.

This might also apply to invites given  by participating squads. That way everyone knows what is occurring.  Say, a post of an invite must be made no less than 2 hours before the event.
The post might not be absolutely needed, but it would leave a record for all to see. The 2 hours would also lessen the occurrence of "last minute" requests, making it easier to say "no" to the request.

This would facilitate better communications for all concerned.
