What's all this about spits needing remodelled, being remodelled, being neutered, needing neutered, perked, etc.?

Did I miss something in the way of news, or is this just a brief respite for the La-7?

Some people are crying foul about the spitfire Mk. V because it is not modeled as a 1941 plane (its WEP should be decreased to +12)

The Spitfire mk. IX... some people want the LF (clipped wing) version for late war use. The current Spitfire Mk. IX we have belongs to mid-war era.

Clarifying.

Some want a Spit LFIX as it was the mainstay of the Spits from 43-45.  Clipped wings did NOT signify an LF but would be nice since the AH airwar is not a high alt air war but a low alt, Tac air war which is what the LF IXe/ XVIe was optimized for unlike the FIX we have now.

Actually hubsonfire - were dicscussing about when HT finally gets around to updating the Spit models to the new format.

a) Any changes to current.
b) Any new ones

I have suggested 2 possible line ups

1)
I
LF V
LF VIII
F IX
HF XIV
LF XVI

or

2)
1
LF V
LF VIII
F IX
LF XII
LF XVI (with bubble canopy, clipped wings and a poss of 4x20mm)

Option 2 does away with the Spit 14 which is hardly ever used and replaces it with a 12 which would be used.
Good thing about option 2 is that none would need perking.

Considering there are 4x190's and 5x109's that would give in opposition 3xHurris and 6xSpits. 9 v 9 seems fair enough to me.
Not counting the Tiffy as it was primarily ground attack.

Actually krusty, I didn't see mentioned in there why the remodel was being talked about so much. There have been threads on 'how X plane needs to be redone next' for years, most without any basis in reality. Now, hearing so much about the spits again, I was simply curious if HTC had said the spits were up next.

Also, I noticed in those threads that you don't like the spits much. I'm also curious as to your ingame ID. No slanders or anything on the way, I've just noticed that some of the biggest critics of certain aspects of the game don't even play.

Cheers,

Basically it's general talk. We're talking about when the spit is remodeled. We're not sure what order it's going to be done in. However, TOD will probably use the spits, so they will probably be in the next 5 to be remodeled. That and they need so much work as they are now, leads us to discuss the inevitable remodel.

So we know it'll happen. We predict it'll happen relatively soon. We thus discuss the matter.

what we need is every spitfire option available.  goodness knows we certainly don't have enough of them.  while you are at it why not disarm all other aircraft and limit their control imput.  better yet tether them to the runways.

Lol.
We must have about most 190/109 options already in the game spanning 1939 up to 1944 (10 in total), including a plane of which only around 67 made it to the front line (TA-152).
Gotta love hypocrites.

Sounds like another no mid/late war free Spits excuse, they actaully mean,,,HELP, a free Spit that might catch our run-nine-ohs and run-one-ninetys.
We'd much rather have the RAF limited to free 1939/1941 and 1942 Spit and a perked Spit 14, less chance of being caught then. After all doesn't the MA teem with Spit 14's?

i thought spit IX F and LF were only MID WAR spits the RAF had... I also thought anything from spit 6, 7, and 8 is just an experiment.

No.
Remember the IX was a basically a MkV airframe with a more powerful engine. Rushed into service when the 1st FW190's appeared.
In fact the IX was only supposed to be a stop gap until the VIII was completed.

Both the Mk VI and VII were very high alt variants.
