Does CT have stall limiter forced off?
« on: June 07, 2005, 12:13:24 AM »
I just got done hosting a long HTH server and realized after the fact that I didn't have ANY instability problems at all. I didn't stall out horribly (except in the "stable" ta152 *sarcasm*) in 109s or 190s at all.

The ONLY thing I did, and it was a conscious choice to screw around with it, was to leave the stall limiter enabled (that is I didn't disbable it in the environment flags), but I upped the angle of attack (hehe, to screw with those that used it).

Now, 100% of the time I host, I have that thing forced disabled. And 100% of the time I get wierd BS stuff happening to myself and other players (like certain LW affcianados have described in here). But this time I didn't get any. The setup was even axis vs allied! Perfect opportunity to stall out everywhere! I got into some tough knife fights and no abnormal behavior.

It is my current conclusion and frame of mind that checking "Stall limit forced off" (or whatever it is called) may be the cause for the wierd reaction some of us get when we fly!

So I ask if the CT has this checkbox checked, or not?

IF SO: Please UNCHECK it, then turn the angle of attack down to "0" (which will essentially turn stall limit off for anybody that has it turned on). Try it out.

This will require the help of storch and others that experience the problem (I believe TK might have had it too). They need to let me know if this fixed the problem or not.

For some reason, it seems, the code on my machine and other people joining my hosted game, didn't compute properly when I had that one checkbox checked off.

Hmmm not a bad idea Krusty. I can't check it out from the office but I will look into it when I get home tonight. Hopefully someone else can check it out before then.

Krusty: neither the stall limit enable or disabled are checked.  The arena settings are correct.

However, changing the AoA to 0 does wierd things to other aircraft. We'll leave that one alone.

Well damn, there goes that idea.

I'll keep making mental notes as I host HTH games, as to what causes and what does not cause the instability problem.
