F7F and F8F?
« on: June 14, 2005, 03:23:36 AM »
Some more info needed on these great looking birds please :)

Did any of them every see combat? Did they enter service at all before the wars end?

I know both were fast as hell and the F8F had the normal big a** radial engine tucked into that nice little fuselage.

The F7F is sexier though ;)

Some more info, any and all welcome!

Corky Meyer's story of the F7F can be found here.

Corky was a Grumman test pilot and the former CEO of Gulfstream Aircraft.

I'd not read the 2002 article on the F7F "untold story" before.  Thanks Widewing!
