It says I have to make a DOS boot disk to do it (in XP). Ok done. I go to flash the bios in DOS after startup and it says Error 6 - BIOS file too large or something like that. Turns out XP put about 900k of crap on my disk to boot it to DOS. Thats too big to run my 250k bios update...any suggestions?

use an executable to make a just DOS boot disk from the internet somewhere...

i know they are out there, google win98 boot disk

that may work, though if the HD is formatted as ntfs it might not.

you can try un-attaching the hard drive before booting.

i will ask, is there a problem with your MB that you need to upgrade the BIOS? if not, follow the rule "ain't broke dont fix it" with the CMOS.

the "newest and bestest" isn't always good, and if something does go wrong, you just lost the MB.

unless you need to flash the BIOS i would not recommend it. even then i'd look for other solutions

Yea, it only recognizes my 2.8Ghz P4 Prescott as a 2.1Ghz...saw on the updates section of the MB website that this issue was corrected in a later BIOS release then I currently have installed.

Usually you make a boot disk and then a separate bios diskette.
