damn.. jus read it here. Only said that a U2 had gone down somewere in SE Asia.

They land in UAE?  Thought they just landed in America....unless it was some kind of failure.  Any other details?

I didn't know U-2's were still in service.

I wondered the same thing... still the TR-1 are in service IIRC, and they look practically the same.

EDIT... Doh, the TR-1 were redesignated as U-2S.

80-90% of U-2A is gone.. crashed or has been shot down.

Current version is a littla bit newer but im not sure how is that called (U-2v ??)

35 left in service according to official data (probably janes)

Over LA, I was chatting Wx with a buddy on 123.4. A U2 Pilot said he was at 60K, and gave me a complete cloud coverage of the area. He said he was flying a civilian u2 for "lab testing".

Chanel 123.4 is kind of like the o'club, be who you want to be, nevertheless, his Wx report was dead on.:)

A crash doesn't suprise me...aparently a very hard plane to handle..especially on landing....they have Z28 Camaro's as a spotter/chase car to give the pilots landing directions.
