VOX not working, but I can hear it...
« on: May 25, 2005, 07:38:39 PM »
Weird problem.  I have been using vox for about 3 months now.  It used to work fine, then one night it started sounding garbled.  Now, people only say they hear my beeps.

I haven't changed anything on my system or installed any new audio hardware/software in the meantime.  Does anyone have a good troubleshooting method for VOX?

I tried .resetv in the main arena, I've checked all my sound settings, and it's plugged into the mic jack.  When I'm just in windows, I can hear myself in the mic.  When I enter the game and key myself to speak (whether squad or range) I hear my voice too, albeit it's a little quieter, but the mic volume and playback volume in the setup is turned up...

Any help?  Thanks in advance!

Go to your volume control and mute your microphone in windows and then try it in AH>

Chances are it is feeding back and garbling.

I tried that, no luck.  I am using headphones, so I don't know how feedback would be related...  Thank you for the suggestion though.  Any other possibilities?

I'm also having vox problems...I cannot recieve or send vox.  Nothing has changed, just one day vox stopped working.  I've tried the .resetv commands with no luck.  Reloaded the sound drivers, even though all other sounds in the game function correctly, as well as outside the game.  Reloaded the nforce2 chipset drivers.  Made sure all the sliders were in the correct positions etc...

Still, no vox.   Any ideas or suggestions?

I just thought of something...what port does vox use?  My firewall might be blocking it.

Grab a mic that works from a friend or something, and just make sure your mic is not shot.  It is the easiest thing to check before you go too far.

Or just check it in Sound Recorder. (Start>Acessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder)

I'd also reinstall AH. Maybe the vox code got busted by something.

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, hopefully we can all find something similar and share tips.

I have no vox

So I wiped the hard drive and started all over again..........

I have fresh install WinXP
Asus p4s800 MX MOBO
Pentium 2.4 processor
512 MG ram
ATI 9800 pro 128 mg.  current drivers
audiology LS  current drivers
All updates on WinXP including SP2 and DirectX 9.0C
I have a brand new logitech Precision pro gaming headset
(http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CA/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=9523)
Onboard audio disabled in bios
I am CERTAIN the cables are  plugged in properly in the back of the computer, because my mic works flawlessly when testing it outside of AH2  (sound recorder )
No vox with or without firewall
I have tried the option within setup of AH2, the...  use wave voice in  (something like that )

I am currently playing e-mail tag with skuzzy,  ( thank you very much sir)  I am just posting here because it is the weekend and maybe someone sees something I have missed.

Any help is appreciated

just to add to this, a friend of mine is able to speak on vox, and hear vox in any arena BUT the Main.  In the Main, he can speak, but is unable to hear anybody else.

We were in the TA doing some training, he could hear vox fine.  When flying in KOTH, he could hear vox fine.
Logs into the MA, can talk, but unable to hear vox.

odd....

Holy cow, the reason I bought a new mic was because one side of my headset had a short in it.  I bought a brand new labtech headset,   hyperlinked in my above post..................THAT WAS THE PROBLEM !!!!!!!

It worked perfictly fine in windows,  but in AH,  NOTHING

I hooked up my old mic and i have crystal clear vox

buyers beware

I didn't mean to hijack either...turns out my problem was firewall related, it would allow outgoing, but not incoming...or something like that.  It was a simple fix.

I had the "I can hear you, why cant you hear me"? problem. It was my mic button! Switching buttons fixed it nicely.......
