Pilgrimage to Hendon, Southampton airshow

<sigh>
Just visiting the UK from NZ and carried out my 'pilgrimage' to the RAF museum at Hendon.

Gazed at the Spifires,the beeaaauuuuutiful only-one-left-in-the-world Typhoon IB <sniff>
and a Tempest <sigh>
and so many others ....

BTW, there's a 'most beautiful prop plane in the world' thread in the O'club.

Well, for my money it was any of the 13 (yes 13 !!) Spitfires tail chasing in a long glorious lazy wing-overs and swoops and snarling throbbing whistling dives of growling Merlins and Griffons at the Southampton airshow last week.

The sky was a mix of dark clouds and shafts of sunlight, patches of blue - a perfect theatre for the loveliest of planes.

Everyone was sitting where I was until this part of the show started then we all just got to our feet and gazed with lumps in our throats ...
