2nd Hatswitch
« on: July 03, 2005, 06:16:41 PM »
Greetings, I've a CH Fighterstick USB. have views programmed to
Hatwitch w/NO problems.   Problems begin when I attempt to setup the "Setup2" on the hatswitch  :(  Button 4 is the pinky but-
ton on the stick, however, regardless what I do, it seems to screw up the REST of my 16 views.

Would some1 having a CH Fighterstick & being able to use Setup2
on the stick, send me ur "VIEWS configuration" pls? Thx guys.

Cheers,

Happy1  :)

Silly question first Happy1....

You get 18 views using the primary hat and one button. These are:
1)  look strait ahead
2)  look fwd up
3)  look over cowl
4)  look fwd left
5)  look fwd left up
6)  look left
7)  look left up
8)  look back left
9)  look back left up
10) look back
11) look back up
12) look up
13) look back right
14) look back right up
15) look right
16) look right up
17) look fwd right
18) look fwd right up

What are you plans for views with the second hat?

Hello Ren  :)  NP...there are NO stupid questions, especially w/people trying 2 help me.

The views 4 the 2nd hat are:

1)   look fwd up
2)   look left up
3)   look back left up
4)   look back up
5)   look up
6)   look back right up
7)   look right up
8)   look fwd right up

Some of these I've programmed to buttons, however, I could use
the buttons for other uses.

Happy, Ive had the CH setup for bout a year now.  I havent figured out what to do with that either.  I got the system going to where it is comfortable for me but there sure are a lot more things I could do with it if I could only figure out what to do with it.  If you figure that one out, let me know too.

Ok I kinda figured thats what you did to the hat. The original 18 views i gave you can be accomplished using one hat and one button. That leaves you one hat for other uses.

Personally I can think of a lot of uses for that hat and not waste them on views on the 2nd hat when you can alreayd use them on hat one.

Here's how...
The CH stick has an 8 way hat on top. This gives you left, right, fwd (default) and back plus the 4 corners. Right? Ok, now look around using the hat only now hit and hold your keypad 5 key and you will see that it modifies your normal views to look "up"- left, right, fwd and back, plus the corners. All by pushing one button. If you release the hat and continue to hold the keypad 5 key you look straight up. So what's happening is keypad 5 not only looks strait up but modify's all your normal views. This means you doubled you views using the same hat + one button and frees up the other hat for other things.

Hopefully you also have the pro throttle.  If so the only thing you have to make sure of is do not add a button thats on the stick as the look up modifier. The reason is you need to be able to use your thumb for views without having to stretch yer hand to hit the look up modifier button.

If you'd like I can help you set everything up just pop into the TA sometime or shoot me an email
ren@flyaceshigh.com

Same for you muttman.

Hope this helps.

That would be the best choice unless you have a smal hand. Then it can become a stretch considering the size of the stick.

As I mentioned before the best alternative is to pick up the usb throttle and you add lotsa buttons and can put the look up modifier on the throttle quadrant. For example here's what I have on the throttle quadrant:

WEP
Look up modifier (keypad 5)
Ground brakes
Air brake
Gear
Flaps up/down
Damage report
Auto Level
Auto Speed
Auto Angle
/.speed 200
Pipper zoom in/out
Vox Range
Vox Squad
Toggle squad icon on/off

In addition my stick has:

Rudder trim
Aileron trim
Pitch trim
map zoom/in
Toggle map
/.cc
/.buggin /.in
/.off >enter>
Main fire
Secondary fire
Look down modifier

So you see you can go to a complete HOTAS setup with the addition of just the throttle quadrant.

Also, suggestion is to use "push hat fwd"as lok over the cowl.

Hope this helps.

Everytime I used the "Pinky Button # 4" on my fighterstick usb it
gummed up the works for me :(  only the hatswitch worked the
rest of the permutations on other buttons were frozen solid ...
this is why I stopped using it & asked 4 some1 to mail me his views configuration, but no one did, thereby I'm using the keypad # 5 key + the hatswitch per Ren's recommendation.

Cheers,

Happy1  :D

opps....perhaps we should step back once.....

You may have to also "set all buttons". The path is
esc/setup/controls/joystick/select joystick. In the center window which shows your joystick name look for the "set buttons" under it and hit both of those.

Then go to stick mapping and take a look at all your buttons. When you press the pinky button it will darken on of those numbers under the hats.
Then look up to the top right where you see "global","view, flight" buttons hit view and scroll down and set the button for "look up" to the pinky button.

Once you set it you can check it and it should work fine. You can set all your buttons in stick mapping.

One caution... take a look at all the buttons on the right list and make sure you haven't duplicated anything. If you have any problems you can remove all the buttons sets and begin again but you probably don't need to.

I hate to say it but it normally takes me 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to get someones stick setup. Not only do you have to set all the views to the hat but you have to set all the views from the cockpit. Also, you need to adjust pitch, roll and yaw (rudder) sliders. Then you have to stick map all the buttons. It can be time consuming but other than plane views you only need to do it once. Plane views need to be set once also, but for each plane.

Once you have everything set its a whole new ballgame and you will be shocked at the difference in your game play. :)

Hope this helps.

thats how I've always had it set up on my dinosour TM X Fighter.
Using the pinky button for your alternate views just seems very natural and instinctive
