That just goes to show you that the Germans had more targets then the Americans. If you look at the kill stats most of the German kills were on the eastern front.

One ace that is interesting to me is Franz Stigler.  He's the German pilot who escorted a wounded B-17 to safety instead of finishing it off.

The interesting part for me is that he moved to Canada and happened to be near where I live, Abbotsford BC, they don't say where in the article. I haven't heard if he's passed away yet or not but I had an opportunity to meet him and didn't follow it up :(
He belonged to the Abbotsford flying club and one of the members who I had come to know told me candidly that he was still flying occasionally but he was a much better pilot than a car driver as he was always bumping into stuff LOL.
I wish I had met him :rolleyes:
