I know there is a limit of 15 skins per plane. However, I was working on a P51 for a while, but never fully finished the file. Was having a problem with the model curving a line I didn't want curved.

I was wondering if the skins will have to be redone when the new P51's come out.

Also, can I remake this skin for the new P51? Most of the old P51d skins are boring as heck.

I think what was posted here would be a good idea. This way we don't get too many similar skins.

Just saying because a lot of people probably are planning on doing a P51 skin and this would let everyone know who is working on what, so 2 people dont start work on the same skin. Kind of like the skins under construction thread except limited to P51Ds.
Someone else posted they wanted to do "Big Beautiful Doll" earlier.

Yes, all skins will have to be redone. Skuzzy mentioned in a post not too long ago that when they redo a plane, they erase all skins with it so they can have a fresh start.

Also, Big Beautiful Doll is definately going to be one of the more popular planes to be skinned, so I would expect at least 3-4 other people to skin it as well.

And u did it wrong with wing tips and nose....
I belive tex is doing this skins.

Just a FYI, but I claimed this one way way way back when Skinning first started...

Everything is exactly how it was in the picture I had of it. I matched the lettering even down to Lander's signature beneath the glass.

The only problem I was having was directly on top of the nose. You can clearly see that the black and white strip on top is messed up. No matter what I did, it would not go straight or look solid.

The other problem I had was that the bottom of the wings were not perfectly mirrored. I.E. You could get the left wing to match up top and bottom, but the right wing won't match up. The only thing to fix this is a new model and skin.

Make a template...

The checkers on the wings to wide.
And the redline is sposed to curve..

Nose cone not historic ;p

whoever did it originally has priority. Just not all skins need re-made, why I wanted people to post what 51 they were gonna work on. courtesy

Hmm, the model I was doing it after was different. But it's an easy change.

I had all these things planned, but I stopped doing them after I saw the skinning error and how silly the plane looked with it on.

Who all is planning to work on what planes?

Here's a few I'd like to see get done Lou IV, The Flying Undertaker, Contrary Mary (Another Plane that flew with Lt. Col Landers), Big Beautiful Doll and I'll remember the others later.
