While jousting with the track IR on, I noticed something that might be a really cool feature added to the default virtual pilots "head" posistion.
Basically, placing the pilots "head" or viewpoint on the 6 axis and tie the viewpoint movement to the planes movement.
So I guess - if you push your stick forward, the view point would move back and up a bit - depending on how hard the manuever was made. Bank right and your head would move left a tad then slide back into center as the turn/ G's are reduced..pull back hard on the stick, the "head" drops down a tad, then gradually slides back to center once the forces have evened out or stick pressure is released.
Pretty much the gist of it would be that the gunsight "bobs" some and returns back to center based on the G's pulled during manuevering. Giving the sense that the "pilot's" head isn't bolted to a fixed location.
Would make people have to get a little bit closer to make their kills, encouraging closer combat / ACM and that good intense dogfighting when 2 opponents are 200 yards-400 yards from each other.
In bombers and gunners, the stability of the gun platform would be reduced some. You could set it up to emulate a moving plane with slight pitch/yaw varience due to a real pilots stick inputs / light turbulence, ect... as if there was a real pilot flying while the player is in a gun position. Or make the autopiliot not so laser level/heading perfect, where it holds a rought course but has random course / alt changes.
Anyhoo - Just an ide'r
