New P-51D - Still no wing pylons?
« on: July 15, 2005, 11:02:16 AM »
Hate to sound negative here, but this is the 2nd time the P-51D has been remade in AH, and from what I can tell in the new screenshots, there are still no wing pylons displayed.

I remember a post where the new version would allow for pylons to be added or removed based on loadout, but is that something we can expect with this latest update coming?

Where are the pylons? Bombs and DTs don't look right just sitting there attached to nothing.

in the p51b there are pylons on the wings showing...

i dont knwo a ton about ponies, but were the hard points permanant?
i know in the new 190 model, it is an actual object, you skin it with the airframe, but it is not attached unless you load the DT / bomb.

maybe it is that way with the p51, the hard points show and are modeled into the drag only if you load those objects

Maybe they're not finished yet? Perhaps they'll add them before they finally release it? Patience, Grasshopper.

Just a thought related to plane redesigns in AH

Why no rear view mirror mounted above cockpit? I've seen this on a lot of WW2 era fighters. Are they a modern addition or did these planes actualy have em?

It has pylons, they were just missing for some reason.

This is one of the features of the new skins. If you select ord or DTs in the hangar you get pylons, and the drag associated with them once you've dropped the stores. If you don't select the ord, you don't get the pylons either. The exception is if the pylons were a standard fitting, like on most of the later P-47s.

I doubt this is going to make much difference with the P-51, maybe a couple of MPH. It's going to be bad news for RAF planes that carry rockets though, British rocket rails were very draggy.
