I am surprised that noone remembered EPAS in a "space exploration" thread.

It was a great beginning.

Soyuz-Apollo - 30 years!

I have a bunch of Apollo/Soyuz russian cigarettes, and other memorabillia.  It was a great mission, definately, with some great people.  Leonov, Slayton...  two great mission commanders, couldn't have been better picked.

ASTP was great for relations between the two countries.  The politicians might have still growled back and forth, but both people knew that the other side didn't eat babies.
