Low, down and dirty
« on: July 17, 2005, 09:46:42 AM »
I'm in a Typhoon; he's in a Spit 9 or La7. We've done our dance down to the deck. We're now co-alt and co-E and he's on my 6 at d1000. I've got nothing in my book of tricks except a scissors...which the Tiffy won't perform as well as the NME. So what's my best move at this point?

Full WEP (if you've any left); extend away weaving slightly in the horizontal at 0.5 ROC.

Once you're at D1500 you can go up to ROC 1.5; you're energy positive to the Spit.

Another thing you could consider trying is this move Mane's pulled on me before while he was in a Typhoon and I was in a Spit.

Basically he just went full brake I suppose, got as LOW to the ground as possible, and just kept out of my guns.

It's VERY difficult to hit an enemy plane that's doing this if you are also very low to the ground.

Worth a shot against the Lala at least (what else COULD you do, ya know?)

force over shot.

La7 dont bleed E even close as fast as tiffy does. Easy way to force overshot. 1k separation is where i break to force an overshot.

I would do same with Spit9. Ofcourse you could try to outrun it. But that's the sissy thing to do. Bring them into a hard turn, one that you know they will be blacked out durring, and wont be able to track you. You want to cut throtle, id cut all the way. hard braking turn. roll over on them, or into them and presto they're out infront.

if you want to practice Max let me know. Pretty much the only way I fight is deffencivly. I find it easier actually.

Depending on how low you are, you could try something similar to This

Or maybe you can pull something from this Film

If it's a Spitfire, then what Seeker said is a good tactic.  If the plane is a La7, just turn and face him and the La7 will quickly turn around and run whelping like a home sick puppy.

Also remember to throttle down if you need to.  Always get slower than the enemy when you perform the move in the film I posted or bad things happen.  Not too slow, but just slower than the enemy.  Basically, I try to be slower than my enemy or faster, not a happy medium.

When in situation like this I quickly PM Xmarine for instructions how to bail. But that's just me...

There are some situations where the only real good way out of is to not get into them in the first place.

Low in a tiffy vs an La7 is one of those.

Of course when all else fails, there is always my favorite. See who can dodge the most trees at high speed.

Its amazing how hard it can be to hit a plane who's gently sliding around right down in the trees.
