Well, if you are not into overclocking, then step up to the 3.2Ghz.

I like the 3.0Ghz for overclocking purposes.  The slk6 (might be slk16, look on the die stamp) chip will easliy run at 3.4Ghz without any issues.  Setting the FSB to 231 or 228 Mhz also has other noice benefits as getting data to/from memory are significantly faster.
In this configuration (with the PCI/AGP bus locked at default clock speeds) the system will perform up to AMDFX64 3400+ speeds and you have a better(more stable)  motherboard chipset than can be had with the AMD CPU.

Not being biased guys, but there still is no AMD motherboard chipset which is as good/compatible as the Intel motherboard chipset.

tracer and ballstix should be about the same speed, but the tracer line has little led lights that zip back and forth on top of the memory sticks.  It's sorta cool looking if you have a well built computer with a window, but otherwise buying the tracer stuff is a waste of money.  The ballistix memory is just as fast but doesn't have the lights.

The regular crucial stuff is good, but not as fast as the ballistix.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I have decided that this is the system i am going to build.
However i did notice that i can get the 3.2 Northwood for the exact same price as the 3.0 Northwood Here  . Notice the stock Heat sink and Fan are included.
I found a review on this chip here. extreme overclocking
According to the review they were using the stock Heat sink and fan even in the overclocked state. Skuzzy. Do you think the stock heat sink and fan would be sufficient if the Chip is ran at default speed? Also i had my heart set on an eVGA 6800 Ultra. Is the 480W PSU going to be enough in your opinion? Or should one step up to the 550W Antec? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

The stock HSF will be fine for standard clocks, but pretty noisy.

The 480W TruPower will be enough, but the 550W will give the poser supply a little more breathing room. If it was an ATI card, I would say stick with the 480, but with the NVidia, best to go with the 550.

Which ATI Card would be a good choice in your opinion?
$300 range and comparable to the 6800 Ultra?.

ATI does not have a card in the $300 range to compete against the 6800Ultra.

ATI's typically draw much less current than a comparable NVidia.

Mugzeee,

if ur buying a 6800 ultra now, why not spend couple more $$
and get a 7800GT, they about the same price, but  7800GT
 better preformance.
