For me the projector will compliment a regular 29" TV, and the projector will be more flexible (ie can use it all over the place).

If yer talking "Front Projector".  Blackout every window in your crib or the pic will not be as crisp as it could.  Blacks will still appear Grey.  Even the $100,000 Runco's cannot produce "true Black".

I was hopin for something around 2k, but it looks like 3k...who knows...Im not great at saving, but im starting to save (hopefully by this winter), mostly for now im researching...im not one to skimp out on cheap hardware. If it costs me more, ill pay more, as long as its great quality. i took a chance when the wegas first came out, but im happy with it still, and to this day get complements on what a great picture it is. As of now, it's almost that time to upgrade..I dont need anything huge, was looking for a 42" (50"+ always make me feel like im losing my eyes).

I've used DLP projectors in fully lit rooms, no problems. But I'm not a fussy videophile either ;)  (hence the cheapie choice).

Masherbrum,

Was starting to look for the most bang for $2000ish. Looking for something around 42-50" like Seraphim.  Will be sitting 8-12' away from it.  Not worried about weight but am leaning away from a huge rear projection TV.

What  what you get?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Presentations are one thing.  I'll leave it at that.   Movies are another story.

I love watchin movies, which is why I was leaning towards the plasma's contrast in the first place...Projection to me, I just cant stand that narrow viewing angle & non-uniform corners. I'd save for a year if I have to to get something great, I just want the most efficient way to do it though, and I can't afford the 10k+ screens.

Check out the thin DLPs.  Better picture and brightness.

Not to mention... they die with age, not with usage. Even if it sat home in a box and unused, it would still degrade.

Blacks will be grey regardless of your "expertise" with presentations.  It is a fact that WILL NEVER be reversed.
