Losing Calibration
« on: June 11, 2005, 09:42:36 AM »
I have been losing calibration more lately.  I lose WEP due to the throttle not being fully open.  After recalibration, all is well. I have noticed if I do a snap roll or some extrememe maneuver I am more likely to lose some calibration.   Is this a symptom of something with the stick or system?    I am using a CH products USB Fighterstick and CHPro Pedals (USB) on WinXP.

It's rather annoying to have this happen mid flight and I have been trying to get in the habit of calibrating before each sorte.  In flight calibrations are not preferred.  Any suggestions?

Malta

How old is your set up? It could be worn potentiometers. Do you calibrate in windows first, then AH?

The setup is not that old.  What I have found that works is moving the throttle only to 90% during calibration.  That seems to fix losing full throttle.  Why that has started happening is still a mystery.  I don't calibrate in windows at all (or rarely).  I'll start paying more attention to the Windows calibration.  What is weird is why I have calibration on startup then lose it somewhere in flight.

When my CH throttle was new it wasn't right till I calibrated it using the CH Manager software in Windows . Do that first.

Yes, you must callibrate with the CH Control Manager and then in the game. I ussually only have to callibrate with CM once a week. Probalby don't have to do it that but I do it anyway.

I found out what my problem was!  My CH Fighterstick was losing the x-direction pot.  The condition finally got bad enough that I replaced it with my backup Fighterstick.  I will add that roll rate and control has increased significantly with the new stick!

I'll either order another pot from CH Products and replace it myself or send the whole stick back to them, depending on the cost.  The y-axis (pitch) is just fine, which leads me to think it was a defective pot.  So, if your stick is losing calibration it's likely the stick is going bad.
