Hello Finns,

I was wondering how the job market in Finland is right now? What kinds of jobs are available and what kind of salaries are generally paid?

I am entertaining the idea of making a drastic change in my life by living somewhere completely new. Finland is at the top of the list, but, as I am not independently wealthy I would have to get a job to support myself and continue paying off my debts.

I would appreciate any information or links that you guys could provide.

High Technology companys like Nokia are almost always searching for educated people. If I'm not too wrong Jochen is working for Nokia like some of my relatives.

If you've got a higher education, engineer etc. the starting salary is around $2000 / month before tax. Prices (especially cars) are high, food is expensive, liquor very expensive, air is almost free to breathe.

Well i cant imagine why anyone would like to move to the nordic countrys... If i was you i would move somewhere where the climate are an bit more appealing...

Im planning to move away from here as soon as i finish my studies. I have been
considering countries like Holland, Spain and Italy. I really do like this country, but everyday I feel more like getting away from here.

I can imagine that someone would like to move here, especially if you like clean nature. Climate is not too good in southern parts(winters are too warm and rainy).

Like Staga said most available jobs for foreigners are in high technology companies. Your starting salary could be 2200$-3000$ and you would have to pay taxes up to 50%.

If you are going to choose between nordic countries, you shouldn't even think about Sweden.
