The SKS is a neat little fun gun but the stock on mine is so darn short it's not that comfortable to shoot. It doesn't kick hard or anything, I just feel a bit "crowded" when trying to sight it accurately. It's still fun to plink with and ammo is dirt cheap. Look for the ammo in bulk at gunshows or if your local shop will order a case for you.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

i have had good luck ordering from here.

http://www.jgsales.com/

once you send them a photocopy of your drivers license. then write on it.
"i am over 21 years of age and there are no federal, state or local laws preventing me from purchasing ammuntion" then you can order it direct from them. i discovered them when i was looking for 5.45x39 mm ammo, they were the only ones who had it in stock all the time.

There is a butt stock extender made of rubber?  It has a whole in it for the buttstock storage compartment.  Adds about 1/2 and inch to the stock.  It does make the rifle more comfortable to shoot.

yup.. a recoil pad..mostly on big bore guns.but they will fit just about any stock...2 types..bolt on recoil pads and slip on's..both will make your rifle longer if you got a problem with short guns...my cousin has a norinco m-14..the stock is a little shorter than a regular spingfield<~~i supose its because of the shorter arm length in china...i notice norinco and china ak-47's are shorter too when ya look down the sites..but the russian made ones fit alot better{for me atleast}..loll...but it can be fixed with a simple recoil pad

sks good rifle for cheap:) cheap rounds..and dependible

My brother has a ChiCom SKS with folding bayonet and the rifle cleaning kit in the stock.  It was captured...  fun rifle!
