Harbor Help
« on: July 22, 2005, 01:42:30 AM »
Finally getting around to making my Pearl Harbor map so it will work in the new versions. XJazz helped me understand how to do a few things with objects using notepad and I was able to make more of the harbor.

Before I added other objects to the ground object, you were able to go through the transparent parts (where the water is)
Therefore a PT boat could safely go through the harbor. When I first built it as a square tile object, I did not select "Display Terrain Beneath Tile" and I was still able to shoot the water and have splashes come up. But the water was replaced with nothing so it looked like the sky there. I changed properties in OE and re-built it and now I cannot shoot the water, it acts like the object continues over the water now.

How can I get the ground object to act like it did before I built it in the OE so the water will act like water and not part of the object?

Any object placed on a tile looses it's stencilalpha properties, just use stand alone objects and no tiles. Also any 5280x 5280 object placed on a tile will disable water properties for the entire tile.

That is not true, I can send you the ground shape I used for one of those objects and it does not effect the water, you could drive an m16 up a dock, but sink (well, the AH version of sinking where only the tires/tracks go below water) once you got off it into the water.

Why is it the water still has its properties when I do not have "display terrain under tile" selected, yet when I do select that it loses its properties?
