dark instrument panels

why do some planes such as the p-47N have such dark instrument panels?

It would be an enormous help if the numbers and lines were a brighter shade, for the P-51 as well... PLEASE!!

and washout those other non-affected planes'  gauges?

too much hassle.  i'd think the lighting for instrument panels would be fairly standardized.

I would definitely like higher-contrast lettering and tick marks on some gauges, too.  Some planes are fine, but the redone ones are adjusted and now low contrast and hard to read.

I like the previous (non-redone style) where the numbers and ticks are white.

And I don't want to adjust my whole screen's gamma just to get the gauges more readable.  That's like turning up your home's heat because one room is missing a window and is too cold, making the rest of the rooms too warm.  Best just to fix the window.
