That old La7 thread

Ive been playing AH2 for years but I recently took a break. Came back to see that the La7 is still the scourge of the skies. How its not a perk plane I cant understand. No plane can compete with its Speed and manouverability at low alt. Why would I dare fly a P40 or a 109 with those LA7s around.

Perk eem I say Perkidiey perkidey perk please.

(in MA enviroment)

La-7 is a SHORT RANGE aircraft, strictly used for base defence. You can't go more than 2 sectors or you'll run out of fuel.


If 1 more "perk La-7" appears, i'll say PERK 109G-10, 190D-9, Typhoon, P-51D, P-38L, P-47D-40, P-47N, F4U-1D, and peace out :)

It's only grace is its speed at medium to low altitudes and gun package.  Quite a few planes can out manuever it at all altitudes and it hardly deserves any perks.  It is not an unbalancing plane despite its popularity.

I see where you guys are coming from ...

Ok Fuel restriction .. It Dosnt matter in MA 80% of fighting seems to be between Airfields less fuel prolly benifical. But Its Ability to Accelerate from Low speed to Catch up with any plane is crazy. I Agreee that other plane might be perked but that LA7 is in a class of its own and that cant be denyed.

Yeah but the fuel restriction is the key thing...  You simply can't perk a plane that can't climb out and have a reasonable chance of surviving.  For all its speed the Lala simply doesn't.  They are killed in droves usually for lack of alt.

Now if the fuel burn was 1.0, then yeah, perk it.  But it's not, so it can't be.  It just isn't right to perk a plane with, what 18 minutes full flight time or so?

I've actually been experimenting with this recently.

If you get up to 10k Altitude, and you throttle back to cruising speed, you'll fly around at 275 mph or so and have around 35 minutes worth of fuel.


I've also taken it many sectors and made it back.

You just have to remember that at full throttle, it burns a lot of fuel.

I've pushed the La7 for a hell of alot more than 2 sectors. I don't have an exact range that I've flown it but its MUCH more than what you've just stated.

The key is fule management. When you get up to about 10-13k, cut back on the throt and let her fly. Its light as all hell, and doesnt take a whole heck of alot to push it throug the air.

I've fought many fights with my RPM cut back even. I love the plane. And because its not perked I fly it alot to anoy those who hate it. Its not my main ride, or ride of choice, but it is a hoot to fly. The thing turns like a dream when you understand how using the throtle to pull you around, and it will run down a little runstang or just about anything for that matter. Its a furballers dream machine.

The bad rap it has is given only by those who insist on running like little babies when they smell danger. Yeah its a dragster, but it handles like a Porshe aslo.

To be honest, I was flyin a 190A-5 and came upon a LA7. At first I was scared, because I didn't know much in manuvers (basically I'd blow my E in the intial merge and so) but I decided to follow my plane's                                         way of the dogfight.


Bringing the LA7 down low and slow and manuevering it in a scissors is enough to force it into a crash or into a stall in which you can pound it with a concentratred burst.
