Congrats Guns and thanks for sticking around.

I only got one swearing in ceremony and an ID with "indefinate" in the expiration box.

I did have the distinct pleasure in administering the oath to several folks I served with.

Thankyou for your commitment Guns.

And thankyou for wishing me luck.

I was sworn in by a Army Captain, boy she sure made me second guess the Navy for a brief second :D

Question for Air Force, is a E-3 or E-4 a Senior Airmen ?

E-4 is Senior Airman.

It is not like the Navy or the Corps either

Petty officer and NCO in the Navy/USMC starts at E-4 were as NCO in the USAF starts at E-5.  Huge difference in responsibilities between and E4-6 in the USMC and the same in the USAF IMHO.  Me I act the same way like I did in the Corps....like a Sergeant.....it gets me in trouble more often then not.

Ahh, thats what I thought, thankyou kindly.  Yea, from what I know E-3 in the Marines is a position with alot more responsibilities then any other military branch's E-3.

That's correct.  Lanc Corporal is when You are seperated from the heard and groomed for NCO leadership.

DOn't get me wrong there are plenty of worthless E3s in because you are garrunteed to get promoted to it but an E-3 can be a fireteam leader and quite possibly a squad leader.

The amount of responsibility increases ten fold with every new rank.  It's quite unique and amazing when you step back and look at it.

I'm not baggin on the Navy but alot of time they give guys E3 right out of boot camp or tech school wich pretty much makes the rank worthless.  It's just another Rate.

Even some of the PO ranks are getting that way as well.  The problem I have with the USAF and USN is too much emphisis is placed on acedemic testing when it comes to promotion.  YOu get too many guys that are book smart to no ends but have no clue of common sense....leadership....or mechanics.

Then you have the guy that's a natural leader and a great technician that doesnt study or test well but he can do his job better than most and he gets passed over for promotion time and again.

E-1 to E-4 in the Navy is worthless really..they are all the same and sometimes E-5 if you are a dirtbag. The Navy's rank structure is just about gone...new recruits seem to have more pull than anybody thesedays....The Navy has gone soft on dicipline so ther is little or no consequences for your actions

.E-6's are the only real leaders nowdays..the CPO's are becoming more like officers every day (meaning worthless sellouts)

I made E-6 and I'll be happy if I don't advance again..perfect spot in the C.O.C. for me.
