Problem with my GV War map...
« on: August 04, 2005, 09:49:46 PM »
First off, I want you all to try to build this map for yourselves. You can download it here .

For some reason, I encounter an error when trying to build this map. If any of you people that are smarter than me can build it for me and send it to my email  it would be great :)

I thought it was the volcano at first (BTW SkyChimp made it, props to him :D), so I copied the map folder, changed the name, and deleted the volcano, deleted the texture in the folder texsrc, then tried to build it. Still an error.

Then I thought it was the volcano. I deleted the runways headed to the volcano, and STILL and error.

I have absolutely NO clue what the problem could be, and I'd praise anyone who gave me some help. kthx :D

don't remove val. Its because you have a folder inside a folder.

You would be much better off building your own terrain but to make it work, at least initially, do two things.

1. Rename the texsrc folder to "xtexsrc".
2. Create a new texsrc folder, rename your "map.bmp" to "75GVWAR7.bmp" and put it in the new texsrc folder.

Go build it and put the .res file into the ahiiterr game folder and play to make sure it works.

After you get it working, move one file at a time from the "xtexsrc" folder to the new "texsrc" folder; until it breaks when you build it or try to play it.  Then you'll know what is causing the problem.

The editor's help menu will get you started on your own when you're ready.
Easy in-game again.

The most likely problems are the skins and the .awa file you stuck in the texsrc folder.

This will prolly sound silly but the only thing wrong is the .bmp on your 75GVWAR7.bmp file has to be in lower case and you have it in upper case.

SkyChimp, ?
Easyscor, I did make this map. The only person that helped me was SkyChimp, and he added the mountain that is north of the GV War.
Zmeg, I'll go try that right now :D

EDIT: ROFL :rofl, that was it! Wow, a tiny problem like that can cause a lot of trouble. Thanks, Zmeg!

Strange.  I was able to build and play it using upper case for the bitmap if I left out his texsrc files, including his modified clipboard map and I've never seen that problem before.

The clipboard map in the texsrc folder was the offending file , not the folder name.
