Getting Blue Screens of Death in AH2. I played for atleast 3 hours on Friday and had no problems. Then Saturday I logged on and played for about 45mins, then when diving on a 190d9 it looked like AH minimized...but it turns out it was a BSOD. The message was "Corrupt page in non-paged file" I believe. I reset computer and tried to play again and got the BSOD again after 5 mins. The message had "Memory" in it, I cant remember what it fully said. Then on 2 other occasions, AH minimized out and I got the request to send an error report to Microsoft.

My first thought was a virus because it was fine yesterday, but I'm not so sure becausae it only does this with AH.

My specs are:
2.8ghz Intel Celeron
512MB Ram
Windows XP
AOL 9.0 Security Edition ISP
Norton Antivirus

I will post a DxDiag later, when I start the gaming computer up. Any insight would be helpful.

Could be a hard drive going bad, could be bad memory, or you could have just gotten some data garbled. Thats the price we pay on desktop PCs for faster memory. No error checking. Every now and then you'll get data that isnt stored right and gets corrupted. You just have to reboot and purge the corrupted data out of the system. If it happens again, you may have corrupted data saved, and have to reinstall a driver or game files. Worst scenario you have damaged hardware as suggested above, and have to replace stuff.

I doubt its a big deal.

run dxdiag. when its thru running down at the bottom you can save all information as a text file. then you can post it here.

Start menu/Run.........type in "dxdiag" and hit enter (dont type the " " ). Last tab, there is an option to save a copy of the report as a text file. Do that, save the file somewhere easy to find, like the desktop. Close Direct X Diagnostics, and open the text file. Copy and paste the necessary info.

Here are the problems (or potential problems anyway) that I can see off the bat. I'm not saying any one of these IS your problem, but all of them CAN be problems.

First of all, you have 47GB free on your hard drive, yet you have less than 1GB available for the page file, and its only using 256MB. Seems pretty small to me. Make sure Windows is managing your settings on that. I could be wrong, I'm still not real up on how XP manages virtual memory vs the older versions of Windows.

Second, you only have 64MB of video RAM, and 512MB of system RAM. If you dont already, you will want your max texture size in AH as low as possible (I think 128 is the lowest setting). You are going to be swapping textures back and forth alot with so little memory, and probably hitting the hard drive to help swap out textures. More than likely this is what happened when you got your BSOD, it was swapping alot of information and you just got one that was copied wrong and the information was corrupted. It happens. More memory would help, both on the video card and in the system. Otherwise, you are just going to have it happen occasionally in something like 3D games where you are hitting the CPU and video processor really hard, and swapping out lots of files constantly.

Third, are you using the modem? I didnt see a NIC on the list of hardware, so I have to assume you are. Your modem is being seen as a sound device, and you have an onboard sound card. I'd try to disable the modem sound properties in your hardware manager. Windows doesnt like seeing more than one sound device, it's probably going to cause problems eventually if it isnt already.

Fourth, you need to disable your onboard video. Its still being registered, even if you arent using it. Make sure you uninstall the drivers for it too. Just like with the sound card, Windows can get all sorts of funky ideas if it sees two video processors on the system at one time. If nothing else, its using up IRQ settings. More than likely its causing other more subtle problems as well. You should be able to disable it in your BIOS at startup. It may be a jumper on the motherboard though. If you cant find any other alternative, at least disable it in your hardware manager.

SA hit most of what i saw too..

one thing that od probely do is drop that 9200se into a word processor.. as for thats about all its good for. 9550 w 256 ddr would really wake up ur game. or any 256mb card above 9500/5600 even an old 4600 128 will kick that 9200's tail .

it could also be getting hot also ... or a driver issue or hardware / irq conflict .. looks like you may have alot of stuff that was swapped or unused still in your pc , i saw bolth a phone and lan modem ...and the sound still looks kinda wierd.. ac97 ???

Still getting the BSODs...sometimes AH just closes out and I get prompted to send an error report to MS.

I just upped the virtual memory settings, I will see if anything changes. Thanks guys.
