Maybe you could put the news and updates on the website you link to in your sig. That way those that were interested could go there to read about it.

We sort of like to keep this forum for more serious topics ... like navel jewelry.

Hi Myelo,

While I appreciate your suggestion, what I was actually hoping for was a single thread that would allow some of the Evangelicals to communicate news, updates, prayer requests, conferences, that kind of thing. Not merely a thread for me to post stuff. At present, we can post stuff in a piecemeal fashion, but occasionally it would be nice if I could ask the brothers I've been privileged to meet via AH to pray for say a struggling missionary in Yemen without inevitably having to engage in 15-20 pages of debate on "the crusades" or say to discuss efforts at ending the self-imposed segregation of the church without having pictures of Beyonce (as attractive as the dear lady is) posted in the same thread.

I'm happy to answer tough questions, to debate, to offer a reason for the hope I have, to discuss my own life and calling and so on, but all I was looking for was one single innocuous thread where information could be shared or issues developed from something approaching a common worldview. For instance, could you imagine the difficulty of trying to have a meaningful discussion of a particular kind of tree frog if the discussion was constantly coming back to whether or not the tree frog existed, having to defend the very idea that there are differences between frogs, random assertions that all frogs generally and this frog in particular are stupid and/or evil and so on.

Perhaps its not possible, or even desirable that we do so, I don't know. I sincerely appreciated Hangs (keep a low profile) message heck I'm sure no one would be uptight about hard or serious questions from non-evangelicals here. But can't we have one teeny weeny thread that is at least beyond Beyonce and her belly jewelery?

I exist !
I mean I've already climbed on a tree ;)
it's a case of tree frog no ?

Well more seriously I think the O'club is a bit to hot for subject needing a more serious approach and instead of a real debate it will be a flamefest.
Even if your intention are good I think myelo sugestion is the best option.

Seagoon what your're probably asking for is a forum rather than a thread.

An Evangelical forum like "Combat Theater" or "O-Club" or  Aces High eXtreme Air Racing League.

A single thread in the O-club would never encompass all the various ideas/topics your apparently wish to discuss/cover. On thread would wander all over and eventually be come many pages long.

You'd have to ask Skuzzy for that I think.

Hmmmm, tell Skuzzy the base here needs a chapel.  :)  Make it a private "squad" type forum so no one else gets offended or makes HTC look like they are promoting anything.  Never know.

Hi All,

I'm not really inclined to ask for a separate forum, I really think that would be going over the top and asking for way too much.

I guess, I'll just post stuff in this thread and deal with the extraneous material. As the wise guy said "whatayagonnado?"

Actually, I think the squad forum "chapel" idea is better than my forum idea.

Just seemed natural to me.  We've had multi-denominational chapels on military bases (even in combat zones) since .......... well I dont know how long.  Much longer than I've been around thats for sure.  :)  Making it an invite only forum, invisible to everyone else, means you could pretty much post what you want (in reasonable discussion) and not worry so much about offending anyone.  Still, I suppose hiding it is somewhat contrary to the nature of the thing.  Maybe its not a good idea.  I dunno.  No idea is perfect, you cant please everyone, etc.

Get yourselves some webspace and create your own forum. The squadron forums actually have something to do with the game.

heya Seagoon, dont sweat others opinions. Float your own boat and let the waters take it where they may. You are always offer valid points of view backed up by fact or your views. One of the reasons I like this board is the wide spectrum of views. If we lost your or even if you started "censoring" yourself, we would all be at a loss. chappy

The private chapel forum idea is pretty good.  Or you could start a yahoo group type thing and post a link here.  Then allow membership to those who are interested and sincere.

Just a thought. :)

You shouldn't feel obligated to post your info in just a single "hold em" thread, Seagoon.  I for one look foreward to seeing your posts as they're typically well-thought and intelligent.

Even the non-religious individuals who read this BBS should be able to appreciate the messages in the sermons you link.
