Freelancer was fun.. i made my meeelyions by buying a big cargo vessel, fitting it with lots of turret guns and deathstarring everything (AH B17 stylee) while running contraband.

Ever since they posted that thread on (I think it was EVE) about those guys that made the fake corporation and the battleship plans or something, lol man that will take away any spirit of playing those games. lol good thread though that one is hilarious. Anyone got a link, I wouldnt mind reading it again. lmao

Yeah HL2 is good but more a FPS than a SCI-FI game. Granted its based in a different world/time its not good spacecraft, which at least IMO are what define a sci-fi game. The new star wars game looks amazing. Check it out.

Empire at War has some intense looking space battles. Looks worth checking out.

If they got some muliplayer could get really fun.

Can't believe no one has said anything about Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos.

You fly ships that are bigger than fighters like corvettes and such. It sports a newtonian flight model, and awesome graphics for its time. You can buy it for cheap online(I got mine for 5.69 or something including shipping).

The true first MMOPG space sim. Great game but crappy management company. Themis really needs to get a grip on reality and how they handle people.

Tachyon was a fun game, like Freelancer but with a little more humor.

A really good science fiction game is Chaser from Jowood. It's not a space sim like the others mentioned but it has an excellent story in addition to being a first rate first person shooter. It came out about 2-3 years ago so you should be able to find it for cheap.
