Speed tests, Spit IX vs Spit V
« on: August 10, 2005, 10:37:15 PM »
There is a debate in the CT forum over which is faster on the deck and by how much. So, tonight I tested both. 50% gas for both. BTW, 25% either way, more or less, makes no difference in speed. 50 feet above sea level. Carefully measured using E6B. Calibrated throttle prior to runs. 2 runs of each repeated results.

Spit IX: 319 mph with WEP, 310 mph without WEP.
Spit V: 316 mph with WEP, 289 mph without WEP.

hmmmm spit 5 with +16 increased its speed but still not close to 109F (109F somewhere around ~20mph faster at deck and 30+ at altitude)

i would also be interested to see the spit 5 climb test.
