1 in 1,000,000 CV Landing
« on: August 17, 2005, 12:34:24 PM »
I whish to hell that I had the camera on for this one.

This morning, I was in the FM2, elevator missing, pilot wound one gun out and flying on vapours ie: almost no fuel.

I lined up the carrier and started to passout hit the auto level and waited.

The pilot woke up and I started to get lined up again was just about to land and blacked out again.

I had dropped below the deck so I hit the Auto climb and gunned the engine just as the screen went black, there was an awful sound and I thought bugger I crashed.

But when the pilot woke up I was on the deck and was able to EF to a successful landing.

Now that was just plain cool, its a  pity I did not have the film on....

My best CV landing ever was in P-51D. Right wingtip busted, left flap out, one elevator gone. Came down hard, snapped gear, smashed rest of the wing off and stopped with the nose under the deck so I could see inside the hanger bay. Succesful Landing :D

Yeah, i love the blackout on touchdown... must be encoaded ;).

Film doesnt show CV in right place anyway, so filming CV landings usually doesnt work for me :(.

My best CV landing was with a Goonie.  I was low on gas, so I couldn't make land.  I thought, "What the hell?" and ended up making it.  I think I trapped the first wire.  ;)

i have landed a goon on cv multiple times - was circling waiting for base to be taken, refuelled, and got 2 or 3 proxies on people trying to get me through ack.

also kept rearming a b26 on cv deck, taking off and killing the SB's.
