Car audio question

Anybody know any good bulletin boards for troubleshooting car audio problems?  

I installed a kit to hook up an Ipod to my Pioneer DEHP3300's aux inputs.  It works all right, but for some reason the sound only comes out of the car's rear speakers.  The rest off the time (using CD player or radio), the thing works fine and sound comes out of all speakers.  

Know what could be going on, or a good place to ask about it?  The Pioneer website was no help.

i'd guess the AUX inputs are either getting a bad signal, or they are designed that way.

if they are getting a bad signal, it is possible the cable is either the wrond kind, and not seating properly.

is this your stereo?

it only mentions  arear / sub pre out.

is it hooked to that?

if so i suspect that is your problem


the more i think about it, i think i heard something once about the pre outs on some stereos being about to have signals come in or something.... but i dont know for sure. either way, if that is your stereo, i am amazed you get any sound, seeing as that connection is only for sending a non amplified signal out to an EQ or amplifier.

does this "kit" say it will work hooking it up to this exact stereo, and in this exact fashion? i dont trust this kit, and would be of the feeling you should return it.

look into a $20 FM modulator, that brodacst at 88.5 or whatever, and send that signal out form the ipod.

Yeah, that's the one.  The manual calls them AUX in ports though, which is why I bought the wiring for the ipod in the first place.  The manual specifically talks about hooking a CD changer to the receiver, so they've gotta be able to get an "in" signal somehow.  

I have one of the FM transmitters, it just sounds like ass.  The whole point of this was to get a decent hardwired connection.
