Mix one part pure distilled water with one part pure distilled ethanol. Tastes like the finest vodka for a fraction of the price.

It's called "Absolut" and is sold in fancy bottles for 100x price. And it's not a vodka.

Ok, stupid question.  What makes vodka ........... Vodka?  I mean, with most alcohols the ingredients define the drink.  Whiskey, scotch, bourbon, tequila, brandy ............. all pretty much (in my experience) use the same ingredients.  Quality may vary, but a grape is still a grape, barley is still barley.  I've seen so many different vodkas at the store ............ vodka made from grapes, vodka made from wheat, vodka made from almost everything I can imagine.  I guess I'm just out of touch, or misinformed when I was younger.  I always think of potatos when I think of vodka.

Good vodka only tastes like 50% alcohol. There's only one reason to drink it. Unless you like the taste of alcohol, yeah right.

I already tried to describe a vodka taste. It's not simply ethanol. It's smooth, and it makes you hungry, stimulates your appetite.

Making vodka is not simply mixing ethanol with water. Chemically it means dissociation of ethanol (C2H5OH) in water and then reaction with other ions. Water has to be specially treated, many organic and non-organic additions are used. Actual mixing of water and ethanol takes several hours at high temeperature, usually with something like birch-tree charcoal.

Here in Chemical Physics institute some scientists used special ionisation devices (I wonder how many $$ they cost ;)) to make their own vodka and, especially, liqueur (nastoyka). They managed to make incredible cranberry nastoyka using this "purely scientific approach" :D

50% ethanol tastes exactly like 96% ethanol, the only difference is that you have to swallow more of this firewater and burn your throat more.

After drinking pure alcohol mixed with pure soft mountain river water for a month makes you drink vodka like water when you come home from the mountains.

Ethanol dissociation in water is an exotermic reaction, so the water has to be really cold if you don't want to drink warm crap. And if you mix alcohol with water - you need to leave it for several hours at the cold place, otherwise it's almost impossible to drink, unless you are a profi like me and think that both pure ethanol and vodka are soooo tasty! :D

Ethanol (1) = alcohol (2)  = wine spirit (3).

(1) - Latin name used by chemists
(2) - Arabic name used my medics
(3) - Common European name

Get a litre of vodka or other traditional spirit and drink it immediately. Ethanol helps to withdraw methanol from your body.

Unfortunately I was too late with my last post and didn't explain the difference between wine and wood spirit :( ;)

For us poor drinkers that have to buy stuff like: school clothes, school supplies, new ram for the wife's computer, Gass for her gass guzling car, hair die because she just can't stand her roots, new toys once a week for the kids because "they just HAVE to have it" AND who's wife considers the act of job hunting, checking the internet once a week.

I like Smirnoff twist  again cheap stuff.  Mix the rasberry with some sprite.  Yum yum yum.  It's usually $8.50 with a $1.50 off cupon for a 750ml

If you are going to mix it, might as well get Winner's Cup.  Funkypants tested, Creamo approved.
