One crisp, early morning on the farm, Popa mole stuck his head out of the hole next to the farmhouse kitchen window.
He said,,,Mmmmmmm Ummmmmmm ..I smell bacon and eggs. Moma mole worked her way up beside Popa mole, stuck her head out and said..............Mmmmmmmmmmm mmmm Ummmmmmmm ... I smell pancakes cooking.
Baby mole was squirming in the hole behind them, trying to get his head out of the hole unsuccessfully. He said.....that`s strange cause all I smell is moleasses. :)

....BTW, I`m back from Sturgis and I`m plastered. :)_

I've hunted moles for 15 solid years now on 2 different yards.  I've tried every method under the sun for eliminating them. Only ONE is tried and true, and works. Trap them.

Oh, and for what its worth, moles don't eat peanuts. They are not vegetarian. They eat worms and grubs, occasionally slugs. If you eliminate worms and grubs from your lawn, they will leave.(They will also return once the worms, grubs reestablish themselves too.)I might add that this method is not preferable, as your lawn will be in bad shape because earth worms are essential to a healthy lawn.

Hi Simaril,

I too have used the Mole trap with the four skewers with mixed results. Mole poison (the crystals, not the peanuts) works but is out if you have pets (or in my case small kids).

Our neighbor's dog digs 'em out and eats 'em, this seems to be the best methodology, other than the ones previously mentioned involving destroying your yard, large portions of the neighborhood, or most of the Western Hemisphere.

Hey, my acetylene technique has the advantages of:
• Being practical.  Carbide is cheap and available.
 • Being patriotic.  Variations of this are used to fight terrorists in Afghanistan.
 • Effective.
 • Clean.  No need to clean blood off anything, the moles just fertilize your dirt from below.
 • Cheap.  No need to buy expensive metal implements.
Plus, it improves your soil.

Follow up to my previous reply. Here is the exact same traps I have. I've trapped 3 of the buggers in one month this year.  I use a flat-blade short spade to cut a 8"X 8" chunk of sod out, push some dirt in the tunnel (so the mole will do its thing and clear it out) and set this bugger aligned with the tunnel, place a 2 gallon bucket over the top. Check it the next day. Bingo. Dead mole.  Then I remove the trap and mole, just place the chunk of sod back in..a week later you can't tell it was removed.

Dadgummit.. ya done gone and make me look up what I used.

Ok.. I retract the peanut part.

The actual product I used was MOLETOX II

2% Zinc Phosphide is the only active ingredient.

Like I said.. it worked.  A couple years ago.. they haven't been back since.

I think 'poison peanuts' was akin to asking for a 'kleenex' when you really wanted a Puffs Plus.

I sit corrected
