You know skuzzy, I'm just not getting why you're taking exception to what I said. I definately don't get what the hell your arguing about.

Let me put it very simply because you seem to be completely missing something:

HTC did not like what the O'Club had turned into.
HTC installed rules to clean the O'Club up.
If people can not honor the rules, then they are kicked out.

Some people couldn't CHANGE and left. Some couldn't change and were kicked out. Others didn't need to CHANGE. Some did CHANGE and are still here. There's a very common word being used there.

If you weren't asking for change, you would have just kicked out everyone that had violated the rules in the past. Posting a set of rules and then enforcing them is giving guidelines for acceptable behavior that people can adhere to or not. If this behavior is different than what was seen prior to the rules being posted, then you are, in effect, asking for your posters to change their behavior in order to adhere to a new set of rules. Why this is even something that would be argued as if it were an indictment is simply beyond me.

I wasn't criticizing anything.

Odd, I am not sure why you think I am getting wound up about it MD.

You keep telling me what you think we are tryinng to do, and I keep telling you it is not correct.  I can say it is not correct, as I know what we are trying to accomplish.
All we want are people to respect the rules and the community.  Nothing more, nothing less.  If people chose to change, that is certainly thier choice, but we are not going to force that issue.
The rules have been posted and ignored for a long time.  We simply started to enforce them in the hopes the individual community members would *get it* and make a choice to either follow them or leave.

It's like posting a sign on the door saying, "no shirt, no service".  You can chose to enter, or you can chose to leave.  If you have no shirt, you will get thrown out if you try to enter.
Just because the sign is there does not mean a person has to change.  It's there as a guideline to give people an idea of how they should act, and it is up to them if they can follow those rules.

Let me clear it up by emphatically stating, we do not want nor expect anyone to change thier behavior.  We want people who are comfortable with the rules we have set for the forums to be here.

well... I have never fit in anywhere in an exact fit kinda way...  I  am who I am..  I affect people in different ways.   Some are amused and some angry and maybe even a few think about what I say as being an...... opinion... one that may interest them even if they don't agree.  Some just think I'm and idiot.   I am sure that they are all right.

If I am no longer welcome then that is just the way it is.   I doubt that I will be able to keep from angering everyone.   I actually think that some people need to be angry... they need to get that out of their system.

I have never understood people who are easily offended...  I don't want to either.

Where did I say "wound up"? I do not understand your simply lack of comprehention here... and your attachment to a statement that isn't a critique as if you were getting defensive about it.

Um... skuzzy. You can stop saying this like I haven't been here for the last 5 years. The O'Club was bellybutton as has been stated by you, pyro and hitech. Now, if you would like to kid yourself into thinking it was simply enforcing the rules, then carry on.

And those that don't change their ways are banned. You do realize how this involves you requiring poeple to either change or leave (one way or the other)... right?

Bad analogy. There's nothing as chrystal clear as someone wearing a shirt or not wearing a shirt. There's not much room for interpretation there.

You posted a sign that says "BEHAVE!". Of course, that's not an attempt to change behavior. I don't know what I was thinking.

I don't think you realize just how obtuse that statement is.

MD, I was not quoting you, but I it appeared you thought I was wound up, or maybe you were wound up.

Not being defensive at all.  Just trying to make things clear.  As long as you are stuck with the perspective you are, then there is no point in trying to discuss this with you.
You have us wanting to reshape/remodel/program people to be something they are not.  I have stated our perspective and you refuse to acknowledge it.  Which is fine, but I do not wish for others to take your speculation as fact, so I fill in the blanks.

Certainly, what I said would be considered obtuse if you are fixated on a single perspective.  I like to think most people are not, or most people would ask for clarification if they did not get it.

Now, let's just agree to disagree as I can see this going nowhere, and I really do not see the point of saying the same things over and over again.

I know you will need to add one more response, but I am done with it.

I've no problem with that. we mostly never agree but I respect that attitude. Realy I don't see this place as being that bad. Its interesting, pithy and a bit of a laugh now and again. what terrible misdeeds have been commited realy? I don't see many people going all out to break the rules. Maybe thats cos I rarely see the "deleted for breaking rule such and such" posts before the MP's get to them. The Mp's seem to be doing a pretty good job and this place feels better for it whilst remaining interesting. The game is pretty good too by the way. Thats is after all how I and most others arrived here I would think.

You actually think I was trolling? It was an inoccuous statement that skuzzy seems fixated on for some reason.

Skuzzy, once again... because you aren't really accepting anything here other than your own innocence in some people's reactions:

You guys have changed things around here. Some like it and others don't. The change means that some will have to change if they want to stay around, others won't.

You can pretend that you are not asking anyone to change all you want, but we know that's not really the case. That is not a perspective. That is not a limited viewpoint. It's not even an indictment of anything other than you getting hung up on something and refusing to see the light.

Hell... that's not even an indictment of the changes. It's simply pointing out that whenever you make changes, someone's not going to like them. Because, even though you can't see it, you are asking them to change or leave.
