A real gem from WB3 BB
« on: December 14, 2001, 11:47:00 PM »
I was glancing at their message board to see what kind of problems they are having and found this (the 3rd or 4th reply to a topic):

"I am in a rush right now. Ill be back in later to add my two cents. This is a subject that is very important to me and seeing the number of post on this subject it seems important to others as well."

It seems like important topics here on AH BB get 3 or 4 replies in only a couple of minutes and hit fifty-something within the hour. Must be a wee bit slower over there   ;)

By the way, the topic was a whine about buffs not getting enough attention: undermodeled, die too easy, graphics glitches... the usual   ;)

Wow, I look at other boards to see what improvements they have made.

That is one way to phrase it. WB3 was and is plauged with problems. A new version came out. I wanted to see what problems it solved or caused. One of WB3 problems for me is that it uses DX8 technology not supported by my Voodoo 5500, so I am not going to waste any more time trying it out myself. But I still like to know how it is doing since someday I may get a compatible video card.

But I have found by scanning their boards after each release that many of the problems I found (not related to my video card) when they were still trying to support the Voodoo 5500 have continued to go unresolved. I just found this post particularly funny because it sounded like posts you see here, except that apparently over there 3 or 4 posts is considered a strong response  ;)

The healthier the gamecommunity is, the more posts you see on the UBB. It means the players care about the game and want to influence to its future.

That goes even if the game itself is a clustered <insert profanity here>

When the UBB finally dies, so does the game. There's nobody who cares.

I hate to shoot a hole in that postulation but you must never have visited the WIIOnline boards.

Mr Ripley is right, the iEN WBIII forums are dead and its a shame because it has so much promise even if WBIII is having the life sucked out of it slowly by the ailing iEN. Same goes for online in WBIII where 30-40 players is quite alot online by WBIII standards. My XO (who made that comment on the iEN board incidentally) laughed and remarked a few nights ago that a mission I posted up on AH had more members in it all flying towards the same goal than the total population of the WBIII Main Arena..quite a sad reflection really.

Hotseats comments following 9.11 made it necessary to turn my back on WB111.  His ineptitude, at game production, made it easy.  All and all, an efficient system.
