-Name Stolen from Warbirds-

I would love to see the creation of a group of players, under the direction of one individual, supplied with the necessary game specifications and criteria to create in-game models, including aircraft/cockpits.  To also include the necessary flight data research needed to create a flight model.  All player submissions would only be allowed through this group in order to act as a filter and in order to achieve specific goals set by HTC.

I think it would be a boon to the planeset specifically for AvA, events and quite possibly the develpment of Combat Tour.  I think a great resource is being untapped.

And yes I know this has been mentioned before, but recognizing the accomplishment of some players utilizing the object editor in the creation of maps I believe it warrants "wishing" for it again. :)

its a great idea, but HT said that he doesnt want anyone making models, because they may be partial to it, and biased, or may put in secrets, things like that. and then of course you get a detail difference, and some planes could be very decent looking, but take up to much FPS.

it would just be awkward

I guess I'm just not that cynical, or maybe it's just that I am naive. But I like to believe the individuals that would chose to devote a large chunk of their free time for the love and support of their hobby would do it with the desire to do a "good job", to be helpful and maybe allow some of their compatriots enjoy the game even a bit more.  Not out of some immature desire to be noticed or "put in secrets".

But maybe you are right, in fact I wouldn't be surprised, but I still cling to that hope that there are still some good people left in this world. ;)

Just think of the clamour and conspiracy behind player developed FMs, after seeing what they do to HTC's own FMs.

Hehe, it's just a game.

Pooface appreciate your opinion.

im just the same as you, i would also love to see it. i want to see a terrain team just like the skinning team too, but i think HT wants to do it himself, make sure it's all the same. that way he has less whines to worry about.

i would LOVE to see the community step up and do something for each other, but some people are sad, and would abuse it

You lost me on this one. There is a senario terrain team.

Most of the main arena terrains have been made by players.

hmm... this you would get already with 2 different modeller from within HTC making the models... simply compare the P-51D and 109 cockpits.
It should not be any issue if there were clear specifications for making the models.

Honestly, it would be interesting if player could help with creating functional models for the game. Of cource there are possible difficulties, but if everything wuold still have to pass the HTC evaluation and people could engage some work without any guarantees given for publication, maybe it could produce some pearls...

what i mean blauk is that some modellers would put a lot of polygons into their models to make it look really pretty, but the HT would get a load of whines from guys with cruddy PCs about a certain plane giving them far less fps

thats what i meant, the designs and optimisations would be different, so it might not work out

and HT, there is the scenario team, but it would be great to see maps for stuff other than scenarios. the new karelia map is great, but it would be really cool to see some of the map makers create maps for the MA too, like some snow and desert maps, and texture design teams so that the maps can look a little better, and be a little more individual

Well that is why all models would need to fall under certain specifications supplied by HTC, with poly count most definitely being one of them.

From a modelling aspect there are many successful cases of player submitted aircraft in other sims, take a look at Il-2s latest patch for example.  I am certain that it would be easy to get a model to meet exactly whatever requirements are needed by HTC.  But I am also sure HTC has their reasons for not pursuing player submissions, just don't think it's on the modelling level.

That is the reason why specifications are usually made, poly limits etc.

i guess...

i would love to see this implemented, i would really like to see a lot more planes added, i was just suggesting reasons that the idea has been turned down in the past

i mean, if HT did give this a go it'd be great:aok

i'd bully someone into building a tiger moth for me :D
