You betcha!
Do you archive shortcuts, address books, AHII settings folders, photos, personal docs, browser Favorites, registry backups, services configs, etc etc etc in preperation for the day when you have to format and reinstall Windows due to corruption, hard drive failure or new box migration?
Not to mention all the Apps you have on your hard drive that you say "It's ok I've got the CD to reinstall Whizbang.exe."
Add to this the time-consuming hassle of repatching windows security updates (Service packs x.xx) after a new install.
On my PC I have 4 seperate User desktops to recreate on the new install!
This just takes doggone too much of my time!
Do what I did...backup your whole hard drive to another drive and save a complete C:/ drive image to DVD for off-site storage!
I used Norton GHOST 9.0 but there are several other good programs out there that will do the same thing.
Btw I got a copy of GHOST 9.0 CD only oem copy for $22 here:
http://www.viosoftware.com/Ghost/?osCsid=19a606085cf5a172e261d863cdd9b8e4Just checked the site, it's down to $17.42 with free shipping!
I know disk imaging has been posted on the board before but this method for bringing your system back within minutes deserves bringing up again.
Feels like a giant weight has been lifted hehheheh.
